Magaly relocated from her home country of Panama to the United States in 2011. Spanish is her native language. She has resided in Pennsylvania, and now Columbus, Ohio. She trained at Hondros to obtain her Real Estate License in Ohio in 2020. She holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT) in Panama, a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, a master’s degree in Veterinary Public Health from The Ohio State.
Magaly noticed the bubbling real estate activity in the city when she first moved in 2014, and saw this as an opportunity to connect with the community in general and interact with the many cultures Columbus has to offer. It felt like home, since her county of origin, Panama, also receives a mix of immigrants from many countries and cultures, mainly due to its geographical location. Magaly loves to solve problems, has an analytical mind, likes deals, challenges, and change. She likes working in commercial deals as well as the much-needed residential dream for some. Eagerness to learn and perseverance are among her quality skills, as well as a desire to succeed.
Her colorful and diverse career history includes over 25 years providing excellent customer service in different capacities, that she now applies in all of its power as a Realtor. She has worked as an Independent Veterinarian, as an Administrator and then Executive Director of the Fondo Peregrino Panama (at the time a branch of The Peregrine Fund Inc. in the Neotropics- working to conserve birds of prey; as a Flock Manager at Trillium Farms in Johnstown, OH and a couple of years of work at the Ohio Department of Agriculture as an Administrator for the Division of Meat Inspection, traveling across the state especially to the northeast, southeast and southwest counties, especially Cincinnati.
She has volunteers for the Red Cross in different capacities in Panama first (since 2009) as a trainer and handler for dogs that rescue people after natural disasters, and in Columbus with the American Red Cross in roles as caseworker, Disaster Action Team responder, and her current role with the Latino Engagement Program.
Magaly is married to Kris McCahon from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, they have one son, and she enjoys outdoor sports like bicycling, kayaking, hiking. She also loves cooking (baking) and leaves the grilling for husband Kris. Magaly is especially passionate about science, veterinary public heath, zoonotic diseases, and everything related to dogs and wildlife.
